Elephants as Thailand's National Symbol

This year’s STS eSharing features elephants as Thailand’s national symbol. Despite being Thailand’s national symbol, elephants have suffered in recent decades. In fact, only between 3,000 and 4,000 remain in the country and only around half of that number live in the wild. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) classifies Asian elephants as endangered.

Ms. Sangdeaun Lek Chailert, founder of “Save Elephant Foundation” shall give us information about advocating for the rights and welfare of the Asian elephants in Thailand.

Joining as moderators are Mr. Luis Simeon D. Pasang, Miss Mariel B. Trapal, Miss Krisanin Zyne L. Patac and Miss Janpen Ramsri, Science, Foreign languanges and Thai strands teachers.
