Our students got to experience a novel sport over the weekend: trash collection!
The Spogomi World Cup aims to combine physical activity and metropolitan litter reduction by calling on participating teams to join forces in a race to collect as much trash as possible over big cities. While the final event is held in Japan, this year marked the first qualifying round in Thailand.
The Sunflower teams scoured Bangkok in search of abandoned pieces of paper, glass and plastic. The most valuable item in the competition was the pervasive cigarette butt, often found around bushes and street corners. The area around Siam Paragon turned out to be significantly cleaner by the end of the event. All participants can take pride in making Bangkok a greener city.
We were proud to participate in an event that stimulates both our cardiovascular strength and our collective environmental citizenship. Congratulations to all of our Spogomi athletes!
