Sunflower Trilingual School recently marked the Foundation Day of the National Scout Troop on July 1, 2025, with a special commemoration highlighting the enduring values of the scouting movement. This annual event, observed across Thailand, saw students, teachers, and staff gather to honor the principles of leadership, teamwork, resilience, and community service that scouting instills.
Scouting holds a significant place in Thai history, having been introduced on July 1, 1911, by King Rama VI, making Thailand the third country in the world to adopt the movement. King Rama VI, often remembered as the "Father of Thai Scouting," brought the idea back after graduating from Oxford University in the UK. Every year on Scout Day, July 1st, Scouts nationwide pay homage to his image and participate in parades.
At Sunflower Trilingual School's commemoration, the activities beautifully captured the spirit of scouting. The day's events included a flag-raising ceremony, an insightful speech about scouting's rich history, and a heartfelt pledge to serve the community. These activities are typical of the school's designated Scout days, where students proudly don their Scout uniforms, participate in an assembly inspection, and engage in a dedicated Scout lesson. This cherished tradition vividly underscores the school's deep commitment to fostering strong character development alongside academic excellence.
