Safeguarding
Statement of Commitment

"Every child at Sunflower Trilingual School should feel safe, cared for, and supported — every day, in every space, in every language."

At Sunflower Trilingual School (STS), we create a school where all students feel safe and cared for. We believe that every child — no matter where they come from, what language they speak, or what their background is — has the right to learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.

We are fully committed to protecting all students from harm, abuse, and neglect. When concerns arise, we will act quickly and carefully — both inside the school and in the wider community. At STS, every member of our community has the right to feel safe and to belong.

Our full Safeguarding Policy is currently being developed.

When it is ready, it will be shared with our whole community in all three school languages — English, Thai, and Chinese. We are committed to making this important document accessible to every community member and prospective family.

This policy is aligned with:

  • The Thai Child Protection Act B.E. 2546 (2003), Articles 1–88

  • The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)

  • The Civil and Commercial Code (Amendment No. 24) B.E. 2568 (2025), Article 1567(2) — full prohibition of corporal punishment

  • Thai Ministry of Education student welfare and character development standards

  • IB World School Programme Standards and Practices (PSP2014 ) framework

Every child has the right to be safe and free from harm at all times.

Every student deserves a caring environment where they can learn, grow, and feel valued.

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility — it belongs to everyone in our community.

Safeguarding at STS is not the responsibility of one person.
It belongs to all of us — teachers, staff, parents, and the whole school community.

Student, Staff, and Parent-Community Relationships

Building strong relationships is at the heart of safeguarding at STS. We believe that when students, staff, and families feel connected and trusted, children are safer and better supported.

We emphasise the importance of social-emotional learning (SEL) to help students understand themselves, build resilience, and form healthy relationships. Our staff actively work to build trust with every student, so that children feel confident and safe to speak up when something is wrong.

We also believe that parents and families are essential partners in keeping children safe. Through workshops and community events, we will provide families with the knowledge and tools they need to protect their children — both at school and at home. At STS, safeguarding is something we do together.

Safeguarding and Child Protection Committee (In development)

Sunflower Trilingual School (STS) has established a Safeguarding and Child Protection Committee to lead and coordinate safeguarding practices across the school. The committee works collaboratively with school leadership, counseling services, and external professionals to ensure a coherent, consistent, and regularly reviewed approach to safeguarding.

The school is developing and implementing clear procedures for the identification, reporting, and response to child protection concerns. These procedures are aligned with Thai regulatory requirements and informed by international safeguarding standards.

Key practices include:

  • Timely and appropriate response to all safeguarding concerns

  • Defined reporting pathways accessible to all members of the school community

  • Collaboration with relevant local authorities and external specialists when required

This structured, whole-school approach supports a culture of safeguarding awareness and shared responsibility, ensuring that staff, students, and parents understand their role in maintaining a safe learning environment.

Recruitment (In Development)

Sunflower Trilingual School takes the privacy of our students, parents, and staff seriously. We collect and use personal information — such as names, contact details, and academic or health records — only for educational, safeguarding, and administrative purposes, in line with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (PDPA).

We do not share personal data with third parties without consent, unless required by Thai law. We are currently finalising our full Data Privacy Policy, which will be available on this website soon.
