STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering,
Arts, and Mathematics)
In STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)-based learning, students are presented with a curriculum that combines four specific disciplines –Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics—with the intention of directing the students learning for real-world applications. A STEM-based curriculum engages the student’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills by applying the scientific method towards all aspects of their learning experience.
Here at STS students take what they have learned in their core math and science classes and apply those theories in STEAM activities in order to show the physical workings of the material from their textbooks.
Student’s learning progresses from first grade to ninth grade bringing everything they have learned before with them to face the new challenges presented in an interactive and innovative structure.
A STEAM-based learning curriculum lets students use the material they have learned in class and allow them to see the material used in real-world applications. Through teamwork and collaboration with others, students overcome challenges while utilizing their developing problem-solving skills.
STS encourages students to put their newly formed skills for good within their own communities in order to become contributing members to better their surroundings.
